What is a DMO?

A DMO (Destination Management Organization) is a tourism destination management structure. It brings together various tourism stakeholders to represent, coordinate and improve the tourism offer and promote the destination. DMOs welcome all types of tourism operators, public and private, in all fields of activity.

This decentralized management model, adopted by many countries (Canada, Switzerland, Sweden, Australia, Kenya, USA, Romania, etc.), is now highly recognized for its ability to manage and govern tourist destinations in close collaboration between the public and private sectors, for the benefit of all.

The DMO Tunis-Carthage: Vision and objectives

The DMO Tunis-Carthage is an independent organization made up of a group of tourism stakeholders committed to bringing together and creating value for the entire Tunis-Carthage ecosystem.

This ambitious project, supported by innovative governance and a strong commitment from local players, aims to make Tunis-Carthage a must-visit tourist destination in the Mediterranean, and to compete with other city and business destinations around the region.

DMO Tunis-Carthage a unifying model for tourism

Acting as an “orchestra conductor”, the DMO Tunis-Carthage's mission is to bring together all the stakeholders in the tourism industry, both public and private, by promoting synergy and building a collaborative network to serve a common destination. This synergy is achieved in collaboration with the key actors in Tunisian tourism, such as the Tunisian Federation of Travel and Tourism Agencies (FTAV), the Tunisian Hotel Federation (FTH), the Interprofessional Federation of Tunisian Tourism (FI2T), the Tunisian Federation of Tourist Restaurants (FTRT) and other tourism federations.

The Ministry of Tourism and Handicrafts, recognizing the considerable potential of Tunis-Carthage, has supported the DMO Tunis-Carthage from the very beginning. This support was reflected through its active involvement in the creation of the DMO, in collaboration with the Tunisian National Tourism Office (ONTT), municipalities and other public stakeholders in the sector. The Ministry of Cultural Affairs also has a crucial role to play, sitting on the DMO's Board of Directors via the Agency for the Development of Heritage and Cultural Promotion (AMVPPC). This important participation enables the DMO to benefit from proven expertise in the field of cultural heritage, an essential asset in promoting the historical and cultural resources of Tunis-Carthage.

The monthly newsletter

In its role as a unifier of public and private efforts to boost the region's tourism ecosystem, the DMO Tunis-Carthage will keep you informed, via a monthly newsletter, of ongoing activities as well as the challenges and opportunities facing the sector.
